THE PROGRAM

Initial meeting (1 hour) This is a get-to-know you meeting. I’ll share a bit about my approach and philosophy, but we’ll spend most of our time talking about your process and project. I’ll be curious to hear about your favourite books and authors. And of course I’ll ask about your manuscript - the inspiration and stumbling blocks - and goals for the mentorship.

Feedback (on up to 55K words) Every two weeks, you’ll submit up to 5,000 words for feedback. These might be revised versions of previously reviewed pages or new-to-me words. Depending on the type and stage of your project, your priority might be forward momentum or greater perfection. Within two business days you’ll have my notes. I’ll highlight the passages that shine, ask questions to get you thinking about revisions, and make suggestions for potential edits. I might also recommend resources and further reading so you have other voices to guide you.

Bi-weekly meetings (1 hour x 10) We’ll meet every other week to discuss your pages and my feedback. This is also your chance to ask questions, run ideas by me, and talk through the work in more depth. These conversations will ignite your imagination and fire up your enthusiasm for revisions and re-writes.

Final meeting (75 minutes) Our final meeting includes extra time to think ahead to the future and next steps for your work-in-progress. You might map out a plan for further revisions and/ or ask questions about publishing, agents, grants, etc.

BONUS: I’m offering interested authors a free, no-pressure, 20 minute 1:1 session. We can discuss your creative goals, my experience and mentorship philosophy, and get a sense of how we might work together.
