The Running Start
This three month, one-on-one program is for authors who have received feedback through The Helping Hand and want a little extra guidance as they begin their revisions.
THE PROGRAM*
Strategy Session (1 hour) Receiving a dozen pages of in-depth feedback on your manuscript can be inspiring and intimidating. Where to begin? How to proceed? In this one hour meeting, I help you chart a course to get your manuscript to the next draft. Together we could draw a timeline with goal posts for the revision process. Or perhaps you’ll identify priority areas (ie. characters, conflict, pace). Or you might set monthly goals and specific intentions for each bi-weekly meeting. You’re in the driver’s seat and in charge of determining the road map. My role is to help you define a tangible and achievable action plan for revisions.
Bi-weekly meetings (30 minutes x 5) We’ll check-in with each other every other week. Depending on your priorities, we might discuss structure, characters, or plot. You can float your ideas and get feedback, or ask questions and receive advice. More likely I will be the one asking questions to fire up your imagination. I might suggest articles or books to read, interviews to listen to, or stories. Optional: In advance of each meeting, you can send up to 5,000 words for review and feedback.
Final meeting (1 hour) We will return to your road map to decide if it needs tweaking and to ensure you have clear next steps. This meeting is also your chance to ask questions about other aspects of writing (ie. about grants, agents, editors, publishing etc. etc.).
